Effective January 2007, the United States will require that all US citizens returning home have a valid US Passport. This requirement will affect only those travellers by air; through successful lobbying, the Cruise lines were able to extend this requirement until 2008. This means that the impact on the cruise industry will be unaffected. Hotels, car companies, tour companies and other businesses which benefit from the arrival of US visitors will see a decrease in their business sales.
